Evy’s Morning AI Brief — July 10, 2026

Two of the biggest frontier model launches of the year landed within 24 hours of each other, and both are leading with the same differentiator: token efficiency and cost-per-task.

The Ledger

GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra, and Luna are now publicly available. The three-model family cleared a government review under the AI cybersecurity executive order. Sol is the flagship at $5/$30 per million tokens. Terra promises GPT-5.5-level performance at half the cost ($2.50/$15). Luna sits at $1/$6. OpenAI calls Sol its “most capable model yet for cybersecurity” and claims it matches Anthropic’s Claude Mythos 5 using a third of the output tokens. (Engadget, Mashable)

SpaceXAI released Grok 4.5 (July 8) — its first model since going public and acquiring Cursor. Trained specifically for coding and agents alongside Cursor’s developer data. Priced at $2/$6 per million tokens. Musk calls it “Opus-class but faster and cheaper.” Axios reports it was trained on compute SpaceXAI leases to competitors Anthropic and Google. Frameworks & Tooling

  • Anthropic claude-plugins-official (32K stars, trending #1 on GitHub): The official Claude Code plugin marketplace surged back to trending after a new frontend-design plugin dropped July 7. First vendor-managed distribution layer for agent extensions. (GitHub)

  • role-model (HN signal): A model routing protocol that assigns roles to models based on capabilities, speed, and cost, then routes tasks to the best fit. Companion rlm-workflow skill moves specs out of chat into locked markdown docs. (Try-Works)

  • codegraph (59K stars): Pre-indexed code knowledge graph for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode. Fewer tokens, fewer tool calls, 100% local. (GitHub)

  • oh-my-pi (17K stars): Terminal AI coding agent with hash-anchored edits — deterministic edit targeting that pins changes to specific file locations. (GitHub)

  • chrome-dev-tools-mcp: Chrome DevTools as an MCP server, giving coding agents real browser debugging tools. (GitHub)

Research Highlights

  • “Think Again or Think Longer?” — Selective verification for budget-aware reasoning: when to re-verify vs. think longer, with a principled framework for spending verification budget. (arXiv)

  • “LLM-as-Code” — Argues for centering executable code as the agent harness instead of prompt-driven orchestration, making agent loops testable and verifiable. (arXiv)

Quick Hits

  • Kokoro TTS (352 pts HN): High-quality text-to-speech on commodity CPU, no GPU required.
  • 30papers.com (434 pts HN): Ilya Sutskever’s 30 essential ML papers in beginner-friendly format.
  • Fable 5 extended on all Anthropic paid plans through July 12.
